1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of recora (getrecora.app), a browser-based screen recorder and video editor (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use recora.
2. The Service
recora lets you record your screen, window, or browser tab — optionally with a webcam overlay and microphone audio — and edit the result with features like smart zoom effects, a timeline editor, custom backgrounds, captions, and export to WebM. The Service runs entirely in your browser; recordings and projects are processed and stored on your own device.
recora depends on modern browser capabilities and works on supported Chromium-based browsers (such as Chrome, Edge, and Brave). Availability of specific features may vary by browser and device.
3. Plans & features
recora offers a free plan and a paid Pro plan:
- Free — full-featured recording and editing, including 1080p recording & export, unlimited duration, smart zoom, the timeline editor, custom backgrounds, and WebM export, with no watermarks.
- Pro — everything in Free plus 4K export, webcam overlay recording, microphone audio capture, and a commercial-use license.
We may adjust the features included in each plan over time. We'll aim to give reasonable notice of material changes that reduce features in a paid plan.
4. Billing & subscriptions
recora Pro is sold and billed through Polar, who acts as the merchant of record for your purchase. By subscribing, you also agree to Polar's applicable terms.
- Recurring billing — paid plans renew automatically each billing period until cancelled.
- Cancellation — you can cancel at any time through the customer portal provided by Polar. Access to Pro features continues until the end of the current paid period.
- Refunds — refunds are handled in accordance with Polar's policies and applicable law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at support@getrecora.app.
- Taxes — prices may be exclusive of taxes, which may be added at checkout by Polar where required.
5. License keys
A Pro purchase grants you a personal license key that unlocks Pro features on your devices, subject to any activation limits shown at purchase. Your license key is personal to you — please keep it confidential and do not share, resell, or publish it. We may suspend or deactivate license keys that are shared or used in a way that breaches these Terms.
6. Your content
You retain all rights to the recordings and videos you create with recora. Because everything is processed and stored locally, we do not access, host, or claim any ownership over your content. You are solely responsible for backing up and safeguarding your projects and exports.
7. Acceptable use
You agree that you will not use recora to:
- Record or capture content you do not have the right or consent to record.
- Create or distribute content that is unlawful, infringing, harmful, or that violates the privacy or rights of others.
- Reverse engineer, tamper with, or attempt to bypass licensing or other technical limitations of the Service.
- Misuse, share, or attempt to forge license keys.
You are responsible for complying with all laws that apply to what you record and how you use your recordings.
8. Intellectual property
The recora app, brand, logo, and underlying software are owned by recora and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or to the Service itself beyond the right to use it as permitted here.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every browser, device, or future browser update, or that recordings will be captured or exported without fault. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of important recordings.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, recora and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or recordings, arising from your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for recora in the twelve months before the claim.
11. Termination
You may stop using recora at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or misuse the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be communicated through the app or website. Continued use of recora after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
